Making my day

I woke up to the most awesome compliment today. Teshan2222 Wycliffe contacted me to let me know that Cajsa Lilliehook had chosen me as her favourite blogger for their Faculty Pics over at Style Academy Feed. It was the second time in 24 hours that Cajsa had honored me, the first was by creating her entire set – she DJ’s at The Velvet every Sunday morning – to start with the letter S. I had jokingly said the week before that she could do every letter, and of course that would mean lots of S’s. But to be chosen as one of her favourite bloggers, and the lovely reasons she gave, made me so proud and happy, so thank you so much Cajsa Lilliehook for making me very happy ♥ you can see what she said on the sidebar of the feed, and check out the other lovely bloggers and their picks.

Maitreya has done a huge release over the weekend. The inspiration was “Night Life” and the great items really do make getting ready for a night on the town, easy. I am featuring two of the leather items in the release, the beautiful Calgary clutch, which when I first saw it made me think of a sports car with racing stripes. I really like the insert of contrast leather that allows for a larger mix of colour to your outfit.

Flapping like a chicken should – Collabor88

First off a response to a comment made yesterday in my post Fly me to your Skybox . I was asked by Lucy, how big the skybox was, what size land it would need, and how to get it into the sky. So I thought that rather than just reply in the comment, I would make it the start of this post.

Being generous with a floor prim, it would be 24 by 19 metres. Because of the L shape of the build, it does not fit on a 512 plot of land, but means you only need the next size up – which I assume is 1024, it has been a long time since I checked parcels. If you are renting from someone, on a residential sim, they would be able to advise. The build does not come with a rezzer, and it is coalesced, so you need to rez while in edit mode. This is an old school way of doing it, and there will probably be a thousand people that will say there are easier, and I hope they do, but here is what I would have done, before I had sim wide platforms in my sky.

Rez a prim and make it the size above 24 x 19 and flatten it. Make sure while on the ground that it fits inside your land allotment. That no parts of it are hanging over the sides etc. Then rez a cube in the middle and link the two pieces together  ( Edit and select both prims and then use the link button in edit) Then sit on the cube. Go into edit on the prim you are sitting on, and go to the second page of edit (object tab) and the first set of numbers on the left (position) where it says Z that is your height. Make that number the height you want to be in the sky. The higher you are, sometimes can effect scripts and the way things rez, so don’t go crazy ( about 1000 ish may suit).

When you change the numbers you and the prims should be instantly sent to that height. you can see at the top of your screen the altitude you are now at. Stand, and make sure your feet are firmly planted on the floor 🙂 . Go into edit on your prim, and then go to your inventory and drag the skybox to the floor, then move and rotate it as needed to fit on the prim you have made, this way making sure that you will not go over your land available. Once you have it where you want it, you can then look at the check boxes in object tab and choose LOCKED, this will make sure you can’t accidentally delete it. Then you remove the prims you rode up on and you have your new home, once inside of it, you can make a LM or set to home by using the world tab, and making this your home location.

Lucy I hope that helped, and that you get a chance to really enjoy your new home 🙂

Now another little lesson. This was something to do with the outfit I am wearing in todays post. With MY Ao – and yes with aos being so different and hundreds of options, and thousands of poses, sometimes clothing moves differently person to person. My Ao tends to breathe a lot and my shoulders were pushing out of the dress completely. I had a look at the alpha, and it was not high enough. Now I could have IM’d the creator and waited for a response, and maybe a change, or I could have not worn it, or I could just practice what I preach 😀 and make my own new alpha. So I chose that option. I did an alpha making tutorial a while ago, HERE. So I jumped into PS and after four tries I got a good balance of alpha coverage. The alpha layer for the dress was mod, so I added my upper to it, and saved and voila, no more poking through…

Man Up !

He doesn’t know this yet, but Mel had his shape borrowed by me today for this post. He does know I have it of course, but usually if I am going to use it, he is usually around to ask first…so I hope he doesn’t mind being my body – or am I his body ? –  for these wonderful skins and fantastic hair…

Leather Love

Just a quick post – even though every time I aim for those I tend to type more. The new leather cropped biker jackers are really must haves. Even though I wore them bare today, it is definitely going to be one of those items that allow for using up all those system layers we have been neglecting with so many awesome mesh items lately.

Pleats are Neat

Pleated skirts are those things that you love for their cuteness, and hate for their maintenance. In Second Life, the only maintenance you have now is sorting them into an area of your inventory that makes sense, as a go to area for all things wonderful.

Sporty and Spicey

The other day I did a post containing one item from a store I had gunfire speed shopped at in the past, thing was that was only their satelite store – yay for satelites – last night Whimsy and I went to the main, and did some serious hardcore shopping lol.

Not only did we want everything in the store, I think I got most of it…but we were actually really admiring the build itself, also done by the creator behind the brand. Then wandering out into the courtyard, we found satelites of some very familiar brands, and some not so familiar to us ones.

We ran back and forth, from store to store – I ran Whimsy cheated with that double click move to thing she has in her Emerald Viewer – we wove back and forth, even going back to the original more than once…it was one of those really enjoyable shopping experiences.

I see the future and what it will be

OMG how cool is the post Ashia did on her trip to the future. Funny that I was watching Back to the Future only recently, and with the changing of the decade it just got a whole lot bizarre around here.
Was anyone else pissed off we didn’t get hovercars or suddenly have all those futuristic things they have alluded to in the past 20 years in movies for about this time now.

All Tones Gwen

Right now I am spinning around on an iceberg in a bikini, only in Second Life right? at the same time I am listening to Whimsy read off the gossip and drama of the Golden Globe awards…did you know Sophia Loren wore a dress she has already been seen in *Gasps ! I mean seriously, do you think at her age, with her experience and style that she gives a damn what the media think.

There are reasons that dresses are classics, and this dress is no exception. The cut and style to it reminds me so much of that Manager in a beauty salon, or walking the floor at some upmarket department store in the early 70’s.

Not to say that it is a uniform look, but the opposite, a very stylish staple that gives off a professional air. It is the kind of dress, that once you find it, you cant afford to not buy more than one, knowing that the amount of use you will get out of it means you will want back ups.

Shown here with other lovely staples from the wardrobe, you have looks that can easily go from the workplace, to a day out with friends, or to an early dinner date. Cool or warmer weather, depending on your tastes, some accessories like the ones worn and you are set.

I saw these boots and thought straight away…biker jacket. They are totally that for your feet, so what’s not to love. Even the style has a engine dynamic to it at the back of the heel. I got on aim and asked Mel to log on and lend me his bike…but alas only the owner can ride.

Unlucky or luck, I take the second because it got me a ride down a long highway with Mel doing the driving. In australia we could never do this, helmets on or no ride.
