It is a week off, but I wanted to let you know that Wear Gray is coming on April 6th. Wear Gray is an annual event, and has such a great reason for being, as explained on the website, so do all you can to support this great event, and mark your calendars. The event is advertised on my sidebar, so if you lose the link you can get it there.

As you know I love the mesh hybrids out and about lately, especially the micro minis.

IMPORTANT:

Another interesting factoid that LL has neglected to make public, or at least it is not something I was aware was their own input into our lives. I like many thought that it was in fact a griefing thing.

So here it goes…if you have seen floating rubber duckies floating around lately, or strange yellow and black pyramids, YOU ARE NOT BEING GRIEFED. This is actually LL’s SECRET way of letting us know that MESH has not rezzed in that area. Nice of them to let us know, seeing as people have been freaking out all over the place for the past two weeks because of it.

Another tidbit, not so dramatic, but certainly attention grabbing, is that the 3rd Crazy Hair Hunt starts on the 31st of March. This is hugely exciting news as many of the participants are not usually hair creators. This is an event many look forward to every year, and it is run by Treebee Withnail. The hunt goes all over SL and has many incredible stores involved. The last time Whimsy did it and she made hair with rats and pencils and eyes and it was the creepiest thing EVER. This year she is much calmer. The theme is Flora and Fauna, and the hair I have seen her unpack so far has been INCREDIBLE. This is not an event to watch others do and talk about, this is one that is a must do. So grab your friends and do the rounds, there are over 50 stores involved and the hair concepts are amazing.

chh3 Poster!

You can join the in world group on the 31st to get info and great clues etc. Every store will lead to the next, and I am pretty sure there will be bound to be lots of blogs covering it.

The items I am featuring today are a mix of old and New…

So the other day I was talking to a creator of Full Perms Mesh building kit items. They are wonderful tools for those that build houses and such, and wonderfully priced. But as we were talking, there came up the mention of phantom objects and the inability to link them to regular prims when building. This is why most builds you buy are sold with rezzers or bundled. But it seems Second Life has changed that, yes I know, they seem to always keep the special tools a secret lol.

Ok so here is the way to do it:

1. Create your build, or to test it like I did, just rez a floor and some walls.

2. Link them all together by selecting each item and then using the Link button in the edit panel.

3. Go into edit and then check the Edit linked box and select the pieces you want phantom. Ex: select one of the walls.

4. Change to the Features tab in edit and while you have the items selected, choose the drop down on the right that says Physics Shape Type, and change it to NONE.

5. Do a happy dance through the now phantom wall.

I love learning new things in Second Life, it used to be a daily event, not so much lately, but it is great how much you can learn here. Now this made Whimsy Winx very happy, as she is a great builder, and for anyone that has had to do the rezzer set up for builds, this makes it so much easier to do.

Speaking of Whimsy Winx…

I have been watching some incredible TV shows lately, the one I am watching right now is TOUCH, what an amazing show. The idea of course being that everyone and everything is connected in some way, it is an emotional roller coaster, you should all definitely watch it.

Another roller coaster ride, was definitely waiting for the latest release from Maitreya. Today it was all released, and well worth the wait, boots, skirts, jeans, and these incredible leggings with and without the added boots options.

My Attic @ The Deck – Summer Abroad 1955-1960

My Attic 1

My Attic 2

My Attic 3

Last night The Deck started an event called My Attic. The event was something we had been tossing around back and forth for the past year, due to the theme having to be special to us to follow through with. The concept is My Attic, a place where one can store memories, from the past, some that may become memories of the future, as well as an exploration into peoples lives and imagination. The My Attic concept also lead the way to coming up with sub-themes, a theme within a theme if you will. The first theme within is “Summer Abroad 1955-1960″ and the designers that have been a part of this first event came up with some incredible items for it. I am so lucky to have such incredible designers as a part of The Deck sim, and we also were blessed to have two Special Guests as part of the event as well, Exile and Chelle.

The list of designers is as follows and all items for the duration are 95L . There are so many amazing things, that I do hope you can stop by and check it out.

Wonderful items all priced at 95L for ten days, from 21st of March until 31st the stores that are part of ‘My Attic – Summer Abroad 1955-1960″ are :

Adorkable Poses
Chelle Makeup (Special Guest)
Cracked Mirror
DCNY Clothing and Accessories
EMO-tions Hair
Exile Hair (Special Guest)
Frou Frou Hair
Idiosyncrasy Skins
Maitreya Clothing and Accessories
Miel Accessories
Mina Hair
Ploom Hair and Poses
The Strand Hair and Accessories
W.Winx Home & Garden

Whimsy did an amazing build for the event, it is such a nice welcoming space, and we even set up a seating area out the back, so bring some friends by.

The first look I have on is a mix of looks using the same dress as a base item. The dress is the Audrey Dress in Mesh by Maitreya for the event. This dress was inspired by Breakfast at Tiffany’s and is just divine. As soon as I saw the dress I wanted to wear it many different ways. The first is the true way, with the beautiful leather Mesh gloves and Clutch bag from Celoe ,. the Panama hat/hair I am wearing is also from My Attic, it is by The Strand and is a combination of sculpts prims and Mesh. The hat has a texture change script and has a variety of colours and textures to wear.

It has been an incredibly busy week all over Second Life. Today is Saint Patricks Day, which for me always has a mixed emotion wrapped up in it. I do have fond memories of past St. Patricks day though, in Australia we have a parade, and also many locations have big events for the day. Once you are over 18 it is a must to have at least spent one at The Rocks. Personally though my favourite of memories was one year going to the local ice rink which they had covered with boards and there was a huge St. Paddy’s day dance. It was really cool watching all these people dancing, spanning every single age group as well, which was really nice. My Mummy is Irish – really from Ireland, so to all the Irish, half Irish, friends of Irish people, and people that just want to spend the day drinking Guiness or Green Berr,  and eating oysters – not sure where the Guiness and Oysters thing came from – Happy St. Patricks Day to you all.

The other day I got an IM from the wonderful Cajsa Lilliehook of It’s Only Fashion. She was enquiring about whether or not I was going to do a post on the A-Z of Donna Flora, this was semi news to me – Whimsy had mentioned something along the lines of it a week or so before in skype. I had not had a chance to do a post yet, but promised that I would try my hardest to do something.

Squinternet the incredibly talented designer behind the Donna Flora brand is really sick, and in need of support and well wishes from all, and while I don’t claim to know Squinternet well other than talking to her a few times during set up of Hair Fair, and ran into her setting up at Shoe Fair one year… all I have ever heard from my friends that know her well; is that she is an incredibly warm and giving person.

Adding Flair – Second Life website blogpost

Earlier last month I was invited with some incredible Fashion Bloggers to be part of the Spring Fresh Fashion event on the Second Life Website blog. We had to have our posts in by the 1st of March and I had mine ready and waiting ever since…which I must admit has driven me a bit crazy, because I haven’t done any posts here since then. Now the post is up and I would love it if you would go and see what I posted. My concept was to show how accessories could take a classic basic look, and really enhance your appearance. I called the post Adding Flair and really hope you enjoy it.
