Hair Fair Extension

Thanks to the good and generous people at Beta Technologies, some understanding Lindens, and the Hair Fair participants…Hair Fair is being extended until the 6th of July, that means that many that wouldnt have been in world until the weekend will still have a chance to visit before the end.

Due to all the sims going down at various stages the first two days, we have extended the fair until the 6th, Hair Stores participating will still be able to set up in their own stores on the 5th as usual, but we will be able to have all of that wonderful hair in the four sims for extra time. This is exciting news.

Do not forget to visit the Auction location at the Hair Fair, Brandy Rasmuson worked so hard on getting this area set up , the chance to big on exclusive hair from some of your favourite designers is awesome. If you bid and are outbid your money will be returned to you, please make sure that when you bid you know that the money will come from your account in the meantime.

Also don’t forget Bandana Day is the 3rd of July , the day when everyone replaces their hair with a bandana in support of those that have lost hair due to illness. All the bandana’s are located at the landing points for each sim, different ones at each location, all 50L and transferable. So make sure and buy a few and gift to those that can’t make it, always good to have some spare for the day.

Australian’s in Second Life

Right now there is much talk about Australians like myself, being banned from Second Life, not only Second Life but many other online worlds and games, yes they are clumping us together as one.

At the moment there are no really ‘Official” statements to this effect, but a lot of posts, forum chatter, and news articles in world and out of world on this matter. I have been getting IM’s all week from friends asking if it is true and will I have to leave if it is etc.

At this stage we do not know, all we do know is that if this does pass, that many lives in and out of Second Life will be effected. If you care about this issue, and believe me you should, because it is the kind of thing that if it works in one country others will try it too…then please go and sign this petition and do as much as you can to help.

You do not have to be an Australian to care about the outcome of this, you just have to care.

At last years hair fair, well prior actually, I had the pleasure of running all over the grid setting up kiosks. It was great getting to meet so many creators prior to the event, same with the year before with the guess who event, I had at one stage every single hair designer on my little platform in the sky…it was a hair addicts dream.

Oh Hai

You know it’s not just men that laugh stupidly at so obviously naughty words.Ok maybe we don’t laugh the same as boys do, but we do notice when something is named something that is a bit tongue in cheek so to speak, or maybe it isn’t at all, and some just have dirtier minds than others – and by some I mean me.

So when Newdolly tpd me to the location of the first dress, yeah I wen’t “oh my” and then had a giggle, and it still makes me laugh just thinking about it.The dress is adorably cute, and the store was actually next door to where Newdoll was showing me in the first place.

Stardust Flapper was a perfect dress for the Pixie Hairstyle I’m wearing, tight and curled in just the right places, it has that look of the 20′s, with modern styling products.

We all know I have my purple condition, and I still stand by my round about notion that I don’t hate it exactly, it’s just one shade I cannot handle, and if there are other colours to be had , purple tones would rarely be a choice over others. But I have to say I am so for loving these Grape pants. They also have a long version, and they did have cuffs, but with the capri length , the way cool piping in white, it was too hard not to combine them with the latest Cross Laced Up Heels.

Paradise

I came across an adorable store today, very Elf like in build, with a kind of space age mysticism added in. Instantly I thought of Beauvoir of Maitreya. If you have ever seen Beau you would know why. So this is what I would think he would wear if he was a girl lol – dodges the smack.

Ok he probably wouldn’t show his tummy as much as I am, but still it is such a beautiful store and he makes me smile everytime I see him. On a seperate note, I once did a pic pile up of him and Onyx so maybe it will give you insight into what I am rambling about, it is HERE .

The clothing is all from the same store, the range is magnificent, and the prices WOW you just really need to get over there and look.

Being able to move through a store like this, and just really love the textures alone is really lovely, even if the style isn’t yours, you really cannot fault the execution of each design. One thing I didn’t notice at the time, is that all the perms differ, some items are no copy, some are no transfer. I rarely ever pay attention to that as I keep everything , so unless I am on a mission of gifting it rarely matters, but it is nice to find a store that does actually have such lovely pieces that you can give, just make sure you check first.

A** Hugs

It’s odd when you pay for hosting etc, and they end up making your site inaccessible to you. Oh well we must go on.

The majority of todays items are from the same stylish store, I was able to visit early last month, and yet until now hadn’t really been able to make the most of that visit. Shame on me, really truly. What is the most pleasurable about the shopping experience, is the overall range of skill within its many, many walls.

From shoes, to handbags, Jewelry and clothing, with the recent addition of a new range of beautiful skins.

Sometimes people create for all kinds of reasons. Many people are in Second Life because they cannot be in their first lives the way they wish. Don’t forget that the people on the other side of the monitor from yours are not always as perfect as they sometimes have to pretend to be. This is not roleplay, it is just another them, sometimes the real them, they can no longer be.

I often forget that myself, and for that I am truly sorry.

Hair Fair 2009 & Flickr

Hair Fair 2009 is in full swing, and wow it has been a bumpy ride so far. At any given time during the weekend one or two of the Hair Fair sims was offline. Thank you so much to the Lindens for doing as much as they could to make sure that we were back up as soon as possible, because it was a very stressful time for them with thousands of regions in the redzone.

Also a big shout out to those at Beta technologies that have provided all four sims for Hair Fair this year at a cost to them, not only of the land but also by being awesome, and actually changing two of the sims to include Hair Fair in the title.

Hair Fair 2009 is from now until 4th of July, and with that in mind it is really important that the word is spread. This event has always showcased NEW Items only from talented hair creators all over the grid, but has always been about the fundraising aspect of it.
This year all money donated will go to Locks of love, and that money will pay for wigs that are made for children with hair loss due to illness.

On July 3rd this year, and every year whichever day it falls on, Bandana Day is coming. Bandana Day is the day when we all remove our beautiful hair, and wear the modifited Bandanas that are for sale ONLY at Hair Fair , this and every year.

Bandana’s are at the landing points of each sim at Hair Fair 2009 and are only 50L each and transferable. These bandana’s as always are creative and fun, and a good collectible, that will be deleted once Hair Fair 2009 is over , don’t miss out on getting something someone made that you adore.

We have also added some flickr groups to the Hair Fair 2009 groups this year, please add pics to those as this is the way all year people find out about this event, and it works as a time line for past and future exciting events.

Hair Fair 2009 “Show us Your Hair” Group – This group is for all of those that have been blogging, taking snapshots, art pictures and everything else, that showcases the NEW Releases at this years Hair Fair.

Hair Fair/Bandana Day – This group is for people to upload their ads for their bandana’s they made this year, or years past (please specify if not this year) as well as snapshots of people wearing Bandanas at this years fair, on Bandana Day 2009, and other years past.

I have been shown pictures over the past three years from excited people participating, so this year we want everyone to share with each other.

Hair Fair Booths – A Group where creators or fans can show the booths of this year and years past that they enjoyed or built for Hair Fair, often these just get deleted after, we would love to keep a memory of them here.

Hair Fair 2009 Official Vendors Group – This group is for all the participants of this years fair to show their vendor ads, this way people can see exactly what hair belongs to what store and so on, and also be tempted by them . This group is only for pictures submitted by the creators of the hair.

Thank you all, and remember it is open until July 4th and is a celebration of Hair and a worthwhile cause. So if you have already been, and it was over the weekend with sims going down left and right, make sure you come back when the sims settle, you can always keep an eye on the map (type Hair Fair in search) and see how many people are in each sim.

Thank you again because this event always makes many so greatful for the community of Second Life.

Dolly

A few weeks ago I was talking with Aradia about her second life daughter, who I just think is too many shades of awesome. Chelsea I didn’t know also had a store inworld, one that catered to little angels like herself.

I was also told that a while ago Chelsea named a dress Sassy so off I went faster than a speeding bullet, and within moments I had a Sassy Dress. Now a very cool thing about the Second Life clothing templates, and the layers they are created in world on, is that they actually fit everyone.

So even though I am much bigger than Chelsea and her friends, and Meko who I couldn’t resist taking there to see, it was way too hard to not walk away with some goodies for myself.

The outfit on the left doesn’t come with that skirt but the combo is yum. As soon as I saw the brolly and wellies with matching hoodie I squeeled…and omg omg omg aside from the apples there is a pink poodle one too, but that would be far too much cute for the internet.

The dress is full and satin, with a big bow at the back , you also get those lovely shoes and ruffle socks, how perfect for when special occasion dress ups are the theme for the day.

Lastly just too cute to leave behind, and I am on the look out for a bucket and spade now, because a look like this means damp knees and sandcastles for sure.

The hair I am wearing is of course only available for now at Hair Fair, and I urge you to see them and really take a moment to look at the vendor ads for these styles, they are in my opinion art in themselves, and what inspired this post.

The creativity in world moves me everyday, but I have to admit that this actually caused me to tear up, the faces , the hair itself, and just the overall homeless orphans look about the whole thing, from an old movies kind of theme had me all choked up.

With that in mind, it was also not hard to go with the latest skins from our very talented blogger pal Ashia Tomsen…the one on the left is supposed to be a fight skin, and so looks that way when not dressed so adorably, but that hair is scrappy and fun, and all kids take a tumble now and then right.

I also love the scarred and scraped shin, mind you as a kid who had scrapes like that every other day – and I am such a girly girl too just accident prone – I don’t think I loved the idea back then lol…ouchies.

The other two are from her Doll collection, and even though porcelain dolls in RL freak me the hell out, I really like how cute the concept of this is, especially in world, and feeling broken these days its a win.

Miley

It seemed a shame not to go and follow up the stockings of yesterday, with the actual outfit they came from. Latex and lovely, this zippered combo is just hot. Having the perfect hair to wear with it was easy also, this was one of my first buys at Hair Fair this year and the name makes me think of that girl, which would make it a bit weird as I am the age to know more about her dad than her lol.

I am all for loving the final update to these skins too, I see the Forest for the tree’s or something like that. I think that if you have this much shiny on your body, you don’t need it on your make up, and the cats eye shadow and liner more than make up for it with their smoldering look.
